Spectroscopic study of the charge-exchange collision betweenAr8+and He orH2at beam energies of 80, 40, and 8 keV

Abstract
The charge-exchange collision (at energies 80, 40, and 8 keV) between Ar8+ and He or H2 has been studied by vacuum ultraviolet spectroscopy (7.580 nm). Emission cross sections of the observed transitions have been measured. Absolute cross sections of the n and l projectile excited states formed by single-electron capture have been deduced. Comparison is made with theoretical prediction. Double-electron capture has also been observed and measured.
