Abstract
Molecular photodiodes were fabricated with Langmuir‐Blodgett (LB) films containing A‐S‐D triads for charge separation and H antenna molecules. Here, A, S, and D stand for electron acceptor, sensitizer, and electron donor moieties of the triad, and H for light harvesting moiety of the antenna, respectively. These functional amphiphiles mainly consisting of hydrocarbon (HC) can be phase‐separated from fluorocarbon (FC) amphiphiles in mixed monolayers of HC and FC to form small domains. The phase‐separated structure of the HC‐FC mixed monolayers was studied with various scanning probe microscopes (SPM). SPM can be also used to detect the photo‐induced charge separation in the molecular photodiodes.
