Impurity Scattering by a Classical Vortex

Abstract
The interaction of impurities with a vortex in liquid He II is studied in terms of a classical model of a hard sphere in an inviscid fluid. The calculated viscous force per unit length on a moving vortex is in reasonable agreement with the measured value of Rayfield and Reif.
