Effects on Rat Urinary Kallikrein Excretion of Bumetanide, Bendroflumethiazide and Hydralazine

Abstract
Single and/or repeated administrations of bumetanide, bendroflumethiazide and hydralazine to normotensive and spontaneously hypertensive rats resulted in an increase of urinary kallikrein excretion. No correlation was found with Na output. The role of the increased plasma renin activity was discussed and it was suggested that the activation of the renal kallikrein-kinin system was related to the increase in renal blood flow.
