ACTIVITY OF VARIOUS STEROIDS IN INHIBITING SEXUAL DEVELOPMENT IN RATS WHEN INJECTED AT THE AGE OF 5 DAYS

Abstract
Varous ring A phenolic steroids and C-19 neutral compounds injected into 5 day old rats were studied as inhibitors of sexual development. At the age of 45 days estrogens were active in both sexes while androgens were less active. The activity of estrogens in this test did not correlate with their estrogenic potency as measured in the uterotrophic test. Some doses caused precocious vaginal introitus but not inhibition of luteiniza-tion.
