Abstract
It has been shown that the optical band and the ESR spectrum arise from the same center, the center, in KCl. Similar to the (or ) center, the center has two optical transitions: A strong and highly -polarized transition giving rise to an absorption band at 336 nm, and a much weaker transition, which is very weakly -polarized, giving rise to an absorption band at 522 nm. The disorientation temperature of the center has been found to be (10.9±0.3)°K.
