Abstract
The extracellular carbonic anhydrase of Chlamydomonas reinhardtii is dissociated from either intact or lysed cells by treatment with a 20 millimolar potassium phosphate buffer containing 0.4 molar KCl at pH 7.4. Electrophoretic analysis of proteins dissociated by the high salt treatment reveals that carbonic anhydrase comprises over 70% of the total released. These results suggest that the extracellular carbonic anhydrase in C. reinhardtii is bound to either the cell wall or plasma membrane through ionic interactions. This publication has 16 references indexed in Scilit:
