Abstract
Normal human sweat proteins have been concentrated and subjected to electrophoretic analysis. Normal sweat contains specific glycoproteins which could be separated by electrophoresis in agar gel. Paper electro-phoresis indicated the presence of traces of the human dandruff allergen, which could be proved by skin tests in atopic patients. There was a significant correlation between the skin reactions to the purified human dandruff allergen and to the sweat proteins. The significance of this finding is discussed with reference to its possible importance in the sweat retention syndrome. It is concluded that the positive intracutan-eous reactions with normal sweat in patients with atopic dermatitis is to be attributed to the presence in sweat of the human dandruff allergen. Keywords
