Abstract
Uptake of water, glucose and a-amino-isobutyrate-Cl4 by everted, isolated segments of small intestine from thyrotoxic rats is inhibited, in contrast to in vivo studies by others which show increased absorption of glucose and oleic acid. High doses of thyroxin stimulate O2-consumption of some tissues, but inhibit it in others, including the intestine, and effects may vary even qualitatively at different doses. Keywords
