Abstract
The rigorous wave theory solution is given for the extinction efficiency and scattered intensity in the plane of the incident light beams due to a sphere in an interference pattern. The theory can be used to predict optimum angles for light collection in fringe anemometry, and applied to a novel method of particle sizing. Keywords
