Neutral Hypnosis as Relaxation

Abstract
The thesis is advanced that neutral hypnosis is relaxation. Data from a survey of 99 patients indicate that relaxation is the primary descriptive term used to account for the subjective parameters of hypnosis. Data from recent physiological studies are reviewed in relation to Benson's “relaxation response.” Both sets of data support the notation: Neutral hypnosis = relaxation.
