Abstract
Discusses design techniques for datapaths for video applications. Currently, PHIDEO, a silicon compiler for high speed algorithms, is being developed at the Philips Research Laboratories as part of SPRITE. Datapath compilation is one of the subtasks of this compiler. It will be shown that by including optimization tools like retiming, logic synthesis, and placement & routing the generators are less parametrized. Thereby the datapath compiler becomes more flexible. Keywords
