Abstract
Tetany is a disorder of increased neuronal excitability usually associated with hypocalcemia. We studied a patient with typical tetanic cramps that responded to intravenous infusion of calcium despite normal serum concentrations of total and ionized calcium. Three generations were affected by similar symptoms, suggesting that this is a dominantly inherited disorder of neuronal hyperirritability. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
