Abstract
In agreement with many other authors it was found that cortisone inhibits the rat thyroid. The percentage of the epithelium in 17 control cases was 66.8 [plus or minus] 2.8 and that of the colloid 21.3 [plus or minus] 2.4. In 33 cortisone injected cases the percentage of the epithelium fell to 52.0[plus or minus] 4.7 and that of the colloid rose to 36.3 [plus or minus] 6.2. Length of experimental period (12-78 days) did not affect the results. Keywords
