Abstract
Simple models of the polarization reversal in ferroelectrics with domains in the shape of either circular cylinders or parallel strips, which grow only by sideways expansion, are used to calculate the hysteresis loops and particularly the coercive field as a function of the amplitude and frequency of a sinusoidal electric field. The small differences in results corresponding to various models indicate that the coercive field is only slightly influenced by the shape of the domain structure in any sample and may thus be considered as a characteristic of a given material. Keywords
