Magnetic behaviour of the doped antiferromagnet K2Fe1-xGaxF5

Abstract
The mixed fluorides K2Fe1-xGaxF5 are quasi-one-dimensional antiferromagnets in which the chains of Fe3+ ions are segmented by doping with non-magnetic Ga3+ ions. Mossbauer spectra of samples with doping level x=0.008, 0.01, 0.017, 0.027, 0.037, 0.062, 0.079 and 0.095 were analysed to provide information on the different excitation modes of doped and undoped material, the variation of the three-dimensional ordering temperature TN on x and the spin-flop transition in the doped material. The results are compared with a model in which segments of magnetic chains relax within the molecular field of the whole sample.
