Abstract
Magnetic coupling to long Josephson junctions is analyzed by use of a recently proposed model. The model is discussed in detail, and for a specific geometry of the system we are able to make analytical predictions of zero-voltage steps in the I-V characteristic of the junction embedded in an ac magnetic field. Good agreement is found when comparisons are made to numerical experiments performed on the nonsimplified system. Keywords
