Abstract
This paper deals with the basic physical properties of the metastable 22S 1/2 state of atomic hydrogen. A few applications relying on its special properties are discussed. These include measurement of the Lamb shift, production of spinpolarized protons and the measurement of molecular electric moments. Keywords
