Comparison of recent high- $p_{⊥}$ data with the effective-gluon model

Abstract

The effective-gluon (EG) model of high-

p_{⊥}

inclusive scattering is compared to recently published Fermilab data. The EG model is shown to describe accurately the observed features of the data for the production of

π^{0}

π^{\pm}

K^{\pm}

p

, and

\bar{p}

. Features of the model which are independent of the exact nature of the quark distribution and decay functions are discussed.
