Abstract
This paper discusses the development of the Faeroe–Shetland Basin. The area has been affected by at least five rift events from the Permo-Triassic to the Paleocene. Numerous authors have invoked the reactivation of older structures as a major influence on subsequent tectonic events. In this paper the aim is to demonstrate that the locus of rifting shifted with time. Keywords
