Abstract
The influence of boundaries on wave propagation in a compressible plasma is considered. Although the models chosen are highly idealized, a number of interesting complexities arise that may be significant in actual bounded plasma configurations. For example, it is demonstrated that a perfectly conducting metallic boundary will support a surface wave in the plasma. However, if the boundary is not perfectly rigid, the surface wave will be attenuated even when the plasma is collisionless. Certain aspects of multiple reflections between two parallel boundaries are also treated in the paper. Keywords
