Abstract
Forty-eight patients participated in a 3 mo. double-blind study comparing effects of orally administered zinc sulfate/citrate complex and tetracycline hydrochloride in acne vulgaris. Tetracycline reduced overall grade and number of non-inflamed lesions, papules and pustules by the 3rd mo. It reduced non-inflamed lesions and papules at the end of the 2nd mo. In contrast, Zn therapy only had a significant effect on the pustules at the 3rd mo. Tetracycline is superior to the Zn complex in relieving moderately severe acne. This publication has 12 references indexed in Scilit:
