Abstract
Oxidation of para-aminobenzoic acid by P. fluorescens is inhibited by para-aminosalicylic acid. This inhibition appears to be competitive since the inhibition can be displaced by increasing the substrate concentration; also, the total O2 consumed is the same in the presence or absence of the inhibitor. Several other compounds had no effect on the oxidation of para-aminobenzoic acid in the ratios tested.
