Abstract
During the severe winter of 1978-1979, many mute swans died; 2111 were collected for examination. The tissue content of Cu, Cd, Pb and Hg was determined in 178 ringed swans. Relatively low levels of Hg and Cd were recorded. The Cu content was high, and an increased Pb content was found in 1/3 of the swans analyzed.
