Antepartum Diagnosis and Management of in Utero Intestinal Volvulus with Perforation

Abstract
IN recent years ultrasonography has contributed substantially to the prenatal diagnosis of various congenital malformations1 2 3 and thus revolutionized management in obstetric patients. The present case report describes the antepartum diagnosis of fetal ascites secondary to fetal small-bowel volvulus with perforation. Decompression of the distended fetal abdomen was carried out in utero by paracentesis under ultrasonographic guidance.
