Abstract
The germination of the native ericaceous species, Gaultheria antipoda, G. depressa, and Pernettya macrostigma was found to be stimulated by light, and little affected by low temperature pretreatment. This behaviour is very similar to that reported for ericaceous dwarf shrubs in north-western Europe. Keywords
