Abstract
This article describes experiments in which surface plasmons in metal particles with dimensions in the nanometre range have been studied and exploited to determine the shape of supported clusters, to serve as ‘sensors’ for chemical reactions, and to attack one of the most long-standing problems in cluster science, the generation of monodisperse particles. Keywords
