Abstract
The residual coagulating power of fresh serum, after complete coagulation of whole blood has taken place, is not related to thrombin but to a "prothrombin-converting factor." This factor persists in sera of patients receiving dicumarol for significantly longer periods than sera of normal individuals. When "prothrombin-converting factor" was used to assay prothrombin in plasma, results comparable to the one-stage method of Quick were obtained. Keywords
