The radiation loss of curved ridge dielectric waveguides can show an oscillatory dependence on radius for the TM-polarisation. This effect is predicted only by a three-dimensional full vectorial analysis and is confirmed experimentally in S-bend dielectric ridge waveguides. Keywords
