Abstract
The addition of cod liver oil to a mixed stock diet for thyro-parathyroidectomized dogs delayed the onset of tetany and lessened its severity when it did occur. Serum Ca in control and in test animals dropped to the tetanic level but tended to approximate the normal after 30-40 days in the animals given cod liver oil. Thyro-parathyroidectomized animals have been carried through estrus, pregnancy and lactation by the addition of cod liver oil to the stock diet. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
