Abstract
Menstrual dysfunctions such as amenorrhea and dysfunctional uterine bleeding are symptoms only and are not to be regarded as a diagnosis. Treatment of all menstrual abnormalities should be based on an etiologic diagnosis, which in turn depends on a sound understanding of menstrual physiology. During the reproductive years treatment should be directed toward restoration of the normal ovulatory mechanism. Keywords
