Abstract
Injections of 2 mu. of arginine vasopressin into the third ventricle produce a significant rise in 17-hydroxycorticosteroid level in adrenal venous blood of trained conscious dogs. In contrast, intraventricular injections of the saline vehicle or 2 mu. of oxytocin, or intravenous injections of 20 mu. of arginine vasopressin do not significantly alter 17-hydroxycorticosteroi levels. The results indicate that intraventricular injections of minute doses of arginine vasopressin induce the release of corticotropin in dogs. Keywords
