Abstract
Whole and ground wood and its water solutes are generally stimulative for the production of perithecia and for their fertility. Quantitative differences, from none to maximum, vary with the type of organism and wood, the use of natural and artificial sea water and the solid and liquid conditions of the culture medium. Whole wood chips partly submerged in the liquid medium are in general the most effective. A knowledge of conditions favorable or necessary for reproduction as well as for vegetative growth are essential for a satisfactory understanding of fungal physiological requirements. This publication has 4 references indexed in Scilit:
