Abstract
An asymptotic (long-range) modification of the Yvon—Born—Green equation for rigid spheres and disks is made which extends the validity of the equation to pressures above the Kirkwood limit. Modification of the YBG equation with both short-range and long-range terms yields equations of state in good agreement with molecular dynamics experiments up to the fluid—solid phase transitions. The application of this technique to fluids with attractive potentials and to other integral equations is briefly discussed. Keywords
