Abstract
In this paper the experimental status of ac susceptibility measurements will be briefly mentioned, followed by two examples illustrating the various aspects in low, temperature magnetism which can be treated by ac susceptibility studies. The linear chain compound Co[(CH3)3NH]Cl3 ⋅ 2H2O exhibits a canted antiferromagnetic ordering below 4.179 K. It is discussed how this is seen in the zero‐field susceptibilities, how the metamagnetic phase diagram is found, and how relaxational effects due to domain wall movements show up in the data. In metallic spin glasses the ac technique is used to determine the frequency dependent part of χ, and it is shown how this part reflects the type of interaction operative in the spin‐glass freezing. This publication has 23 references indexed in Scilit:
