Abstract
For several reasons, food allergy can present a diagnostic challenge: Both patients and physicians can be too quick to blame a wide range of symptoms on ingestion of certain foods, it is sometimes difficult to distinguish food allergy from food intolerance, and results of some common diagnostic tests are not conclusive. In this article, the authors describe the typical symptoms of food allergy, discuss evaluation and diagnosis, and examine appropriate preventive and treatment measures. Keywords
