Abstract
Discussion of points of agreement and disagreement between the author and Professor H. Selye on the "permissive" actions of the adrenal cortical hormones. The author prefers the term "supporting" and Selye prefers the term "conditioning". None of the terms thus far considered have the desired connotation. The author is also unwilling to accept Selye''s definition of the meaning of the term "hypercorticoidism" as expressed in recent publications. Keywords
