Abstract
A new formula is proposed to calculate the deposition efficiency of spherical particles from laminar flows in a horizontal circular duct by the combined mechanisms of sedimentation, diffusion and electrostatic precipitation based upon the efficiency derived for each individual mechanism. The results from this formula compare well with the exact solutions previously obtained for several different cases of combined deposition as well as an empirical formula derived from experimental data for combined diffusion and sedimentationKeywords
