Abstract
The fine structure of four transplantable hepatomas was compared with that of the normal liver parenchyma of adult mice; variations were observed in certain cellular components. The cristae of hepatoma mitochondria were often clumped together, whereas, in normal hepatic parenchyma, cristae mitochondriales were more regularly distributed. In hepatoma C3HS-III, cup-shaped mitochondria folded around pieces of cytoplasm were present. No viruses were observed in any tumor. Large, cytoplasmic bodies were remarkably numerous in the SS1K hepatoma. In the hepatomas studied, the vesicles of the granular endoplasmic reticulum were often dilated, while in normal hepatic parenchymal cells they appeared as elongated, flattened sacs. Keywords
