Abstract
The authors picture of complete acclimatization covers, so far as data are available, respiration, acid-base balance, adrenal cortex, blood glucose and liver glycogen, heart and circulation, vascularization, blood pigment metabolism, oxygen consumption, growth, blood histamine, myoglobin, cytochrome and muscle metabolism, kidney, gastro-intestinal tract, nervous system, fertility and reproduction. They consider also the return of the acclimated individual to sea level, and the question whether intermittent exposure to low O2 tension acclimatizes.Keywords
