Abstract
Two siblings were studied who presented an acute neurological deterioration in the 1st week of life. The outstanding pathological change was the formation of vacuoles within the myelinated areas of the central nervous system. It is suggested that these vacuoles have been formed between the lamellae of the myelin sheaths, as a consequency of a primary alteration in unit-membrane permeability. Keywords
