Abstract
A study of the aerobic, Gram-negative bacilli encountered in infections of the genito-urinary tract revealed the following results. Members of Escherichia (representing 27 spp. or types) were found in 83% of the cultures; members of Aerobacter (representing 14 spp. or types) occurred in 13%; the remaining 4% were distributed among the genera, Salmonella, Proteus, Shigella and Pseudomonas. In some patients the same microorganisms were repeatedly recovered; in others, variation of the bacterial flora occurred. The investigations suggest a certain relationship between therapeutic response of the patients and the particular type of Gram-negative bacillus responsible for the infection. This publication has 9 references indexed in Scilit:
