Abstract
Investigation of the antibacterial activity of nalidixic acid against Escherichia coli harbouring various R-factor plasmids has shown that several unrelated R-factors confer an increased susceptibility to the drug. This increase in susceptibility results from an increase in the permeability of the cell wall facilitating an increased uptake of the drug. Keywords
