Abstract
Summary This study revealed a slight decrease in the activities of acid phosphatase, beta-glucuronidase and cathepsine during gold therapy. It seems likely that aurothiomalate used therapeutically breaks down in the cells and releases a gold ion which is a strong non-competitive inhibitor for sulfhydryle groups of enzymes. Keywords
