Abstract
Fermi-liquid theory is used to explain the observed maximum in the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility of high-purity scandium. Previous calculations, based on Stoner theory and band calculations, are critically discussed. The observed disappearance of the maximum when small amounts of impurities are added is also explained. Keywords
