Abstract
In 1206 consecutive Rh-negative women who delivered Rh-positive infants fetal erythrocytes were found in the maternal blood of 175 (14.5%) during the post-partum period. In 12 (1.0%) there was evidence of a larger fetomaternal hemorrhage that would be neutralized by a single 300 .mu.g dose of Rh-immune globulin. Except for manual removal of the placenta, no correlation was found between large fetomaternal hemorrhages and obstetric manipulation, complications or surgery. All Rh-negative patients should probably be screened post partum to ascertain the adequacy of Rh-immune globulin prophylaxis. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
