Abstract
Electron capture in a bound state of the target following e--e+ production in the same centre is studied for collision between bare heavy ions at relativistic impact energies. The process is described by using a first-order Born approximation where Darwin and Sommerfeld-Maue wavefunctions are introduced to represent the electron and positron states. Comparisons are made for single differential cross sections, as a function of the final positron energy, with other existing theoretical calculations.
