Abstract
A case report of a black grained mycetoma observed in a Guatemalan peasant is described. Micro and macroscopic appearance of grains as well as biochemical behavior of the isolated mold, prove it to be Madurella grisea. Our strain has the ability to produce pycnidia and pycniospores, suggesting some resemblance with Pyrenochaeta romeroi, whereas other characteristics show them to be different. Keywords
