Abstract
A multipoint method using standard waveguide components is described for accurate measurements of the complex dielectric permittivity of liquids. Measurements on carbon tetrachloride, tert-butyl alcohol, 1,1,1-trichloroethane and water, which have loss tangents ranging from 10-4 to 2, are reported. The calculated errors show that one unique method gives precise results in the microwave region between 5 and 150 GHz for loss tangents <or approximately=1. The method is also useful for loss tangents between 1 and 2, but yields less precise results. Keywords
