Abstract
The anaerobic reduction of tetrazolium by adrenal gland homogenate has been shown to be an index of adrenal activity. Exposure to cold for short periods (4 hrs.) or long periods (7 days) leads to increased enzymatic activity as did treatment with ACTH after either 1 dose of 5 mg. or 7 days treatment with 5 mg. twice daily. Cortisone in doses sufficient to cause some degree of involution of the adrenals lead to a decrease in enzyme activity. Keywords
